Hi everyone,

K.R. and I are trying to fill some important positions in the Round Table, so if you think you might be interested in getting more involved, this is your chance! Experience isn’t required, there are people who can guide you.

We need the following:

• Nominating Committee Chair
• Nominating Committee Members (1-3)

The nominating committee helps recruit members to fill our elected positions. These positions open in alternating years, so there is at least one position that needs to be recruited for each year. The work can be done via email. It is necessary to be in contact with each other on a regular basis, and to be in contact with the Steering Committee Co-Chairs as requested (specific time-frames to come after midwinter).

• Fundraising Chair
• Fundraising Committee Members (the more the merrier!)

Having surpassed our endowment goal, we are continuing to fundraise for the following things:
1. Children’s/YA Stonewall Award (goal hasn’t yet been finally set, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $25,000 to get started.
2. Increasing the Adult Stonewall Award Endowment so that in poor economic times such as these we will be able to draw on the interest, without diminishing the fund too much.
3. Operating budget, which covers a variety of expenses like postage, bank fees, socials, ALA overhead charges, etc.
Fundraising experience is not necessary. The work involves fundraising among the Round Table membership and probably seeking corporate (publisher) sponsorship, and other outside donations. Staying in contact with your committee members on a regular basis is essential, and the chair must report to the Steering Committee Co-Chairs (specific time-frames to come after midwinter).

Additionally, we need to fill the following positions which generally involve coming to conferences, attending appropriate meetings, representing our concerns, and reporting back to the Steering Committee:

• Liaison to Association of College and Research Libraries
• Liaison to ALA Ethnic Caucuses
• Liaison to Freedom to Read Foundation (may have someone, but let us know if you are interested)
• Liaison to Literacy Assembly (may have someone, but let us know if you are interested)
• Liaison to Legislation Assembly
• Liaison to Public Library Association
• Membership Promotion Taskforce

We may also be looking for a liaison to AASL, so if you’re interested, speak up.

If an upcoming conference is going to be held in your city (check the ALA website), you might want to volunteer to help with the Local Arrangements Committee.
